Splurge? or STEAL!: Prada "Baroque" Inspired Sunglasses

Hello Beautiful!!

One of the most wearable trends for Spring is Sunglasses and they're also a MUST HAVE for Summer, which is quickly approaching!

 I fell in love with these circle framed sunglasses, that I call my JackieO's! Lol, I don't know, they just reminded me of her.

However, I soon found out that my JackieO's had their own name and were designed by Prada for a lot more than I would bargain for any sunglasses!!

Yes, they're the Prada "Baroque" Sunglasses! They're vintage, iconic and sooo damn stylish!

                                                

Well you know I had to look for a dupe of these stylish sunglasses! And I didn't have to look far...

 

My favorite sunglasses website, Retro City Sunglasses, had the exact replicas for $10.99!!!

                                               

Don't they look the same, except for the PRADA logo on the frame and handle like the original Prada Baroque?

I was excited when I finally got my Black Bellissimo Oversize Sunglasses, from Retro City Sunglasses. They were sturdy, made with good quality and fit perfectly on my face! These shades were definitely a STEAL for all that good stuff, that great price and that designer look!

I didn't have to SPLURGE to stunt in my beloved JackieO's. But I wear them like I did... ;-)

OOTD: SPRING BRIGHTS, SPRINTS AND STRIDES!

Hey Beautiful!!!

This Easter weekend the 2013 Carifta Games were hosted in my hometown, Nassau, Bahamas. We hosted competing countries throughout the Caribbean for 4 days. However I only attended 1 day, which was the last day, and the final events.

I had a blast!! And it was a beautiful thing to see my country and all the other countries represent for their hometown by waving flags, blowing whistles and cheering their athletes on!

Due to the Spring season, and the festivities I wanted to be cute, colorful and comfortable. I also wanted to bust out my PINK Hermes Birkin inspired handbag.

Here is what I wore:

#vintagepiece! These are GAP jeans and they're actually hand-me down's from my cousin Nakara! (Hey Cuz!) I can't even tell you how old these jeans are, but they still make for a good fashion piece. I never threw these away for 2 reasons: They're classic, vintage, and versatile to style! And two, they're a keepsake since my cousin no longer lives in the Bahamas with me. :(

Its Spring, so I wanted to add pops of color to my outfit with my neon yellow blazer and hot pink bag. Meanwhile, I didn't want to look overdress as it was a casual, fun, sporting event. So I simplified the outfit with jeans shorts and a graphic tee.

Simple basic clothing are always a good canvas for accent pieces and accessories. Black and white is easy to dress Up or Down. So is jeans, blazers, and flats. All of which are in this outfit. Just imagine trying to dress down a printed peplum top or tiered and textured skirt. It just wont work!

OOTD: Rock & Red!

Hello Beautiful!

A few weeks ago we had a cold front in usually hot and sunny Nassau, Bahamas! Rain, high wind, and all that cold air gave me an excuse to wear my faux leather moto jacket! Finally!!

Leather jackets were hot for the 2012 Fall Fashion Season, and the former masculine clothing piece has transitioned into a female fashionista's staple!

Even though the moto jacket has a masculine rockstar feel, I found a way to add femininity to it by pairing it with red heels!

#trendalert! Leather moto jackets are still making a statement since MJ's 1987 "Bad" album was released, and probably before then. Although a trendy piece, a nice leather jacket is also essential for everyone's closet. Male or female!

#vintagepiece! I've had these jeans since 2005! I found these jeans in a Levi outlet. What made me purchase these jeans when my peers were probably wearing tight fitted bell bottoms or skinny jeans, I don't know! But I've styled these jeans many ways over the years, and they're still one of my favorite pairs in my closet.

In this look I softened a masculine trend (leather moto jacket) with a feminine essential (heels). My look is an example of making a theme with your outfit. The theme of this outfit is Rock and Roll! My jacket, Rolling Stones tank and metal accessories definitely screams that! My boyfriend jeans and red heel to compliment the red lips on my shirt, we're just added touches.

Theme outfits makes it easier for you to create a look! So think of all the looks, trends, and styles over the years and go for it! For example, if I wanted to go for a Nubian Queen look I would've put on a maxi skirt, head wrap and big bangles and earrings.

So spring is quickly approaching! Time to pull out the pastels and soft materials. Flirty dresses, blazers and tees... right?! Wrong!

Spring Fashion Season this year is serving up a SURPRISE! The Spring Trends for 2013 are far from the usual. Pastels are being replaced by Monotones. Cotton being replaced by Leather! And casual turning into chic!

Short Sophistication.

Shorts Suits is my #1 pick for Spring Trends this year! Who said suits are masculine and tailored to the office or church?! Not Michael Kors and Tory Burch! These designers set the trend on the runway pairing a jacket with the matching short pants. Short pants! Forget simple and casual this Spring. It's all about sophistication and chic. Wear this trend to happy hours, casual business meeting or even a nice lunch date. I can't wait to try this trend.... look out for it!

No Gray Areas!

Put down your Lilac and Sky Blue pieces, the color combo for this season is Black and White! Not the typical "spring trends" Easter colors, but these traditional monotone colors are ready to wear all year long, easy to style, inexpensive and appropriate for work  or play. Designers Jason Wu and Marc Jacobs were genius for putting the most wearable color combo on the runway for Spring 2013.

Forget the Easter Egg hunt. Play the game of Peekaboo this Spring. Cutouts, splits, and sheers are the sexy trends this season, and there is peekaboo piece for everyone! For petite body shapes, wear that body fitting dress with the cutouts on the sides. For the lean, long woman, wear that dress with a high split. For the big sexy ladies, wear that lacy top that covers all the right areas and reveals the necessary. You're not going to see the Easter Bunny on your date nights, so don't dress like it! Stay SEXY this Spring, its 2013!

Are you riding the waves of the Spring 2013 trends yet? Here's another one for you to jump on board! Bold Stripes! Cruise right by those floral prints and grab hold of some big, bold stripes! Bermudas are BACK!

It'll probably be too hot for long pants and not everyone is comfortable in hot shorts, so my beloved Bermuda Shorts are back for Spring 2013! Not that I needed Bermuda's to be in style to rock them, but THANK YOU DKNY for re-introducing them to the runway. For the teens, the 20 somethings and the 30's and over, Bermuda shorts are age appropriate, easy to wear and easy to style!

Spring Up, Step Down.

The shoe trend for the 2013 Spring Fashion season is Flats and Low Heels. Yes, a lady should "always keep her standards high, and heels HIGHER", but save that for date night. Give your feet a rest this season in the revamped, modernized styles of flats and low heels. Go for ankle straps, pointy mouths, and vibrant colors.

Shady Business...

Accessories just add the final touches to any outfit, and THE accessory trend this season is Statement Sunglasses! No, no... not the regular aviators and oversize square frames. We're talking vintage, cat-eyed, bold, loud... simply NOT the norm. Slip on your shades and step onto YOUR runway!

Some days I look in my closet, through my drawers, at my shoes and come to the conclusion "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!" I'm sure you know what I'm talking about...

When actually we have lots to wear! It's just a matter of putting-it-together!

I personally believe this is how, and when TRUE STYLE comes to be!

So a few days ago I had one of those "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR" moments, and... well

However, over the years I've styled this top many different ways to create many different outfits for many different occasions. When shopping, you should always pick up one or two of what I call "essential pieces"-pieces that can stay in your closet for many years but will NEVER get old or go out of style!

I accessorized this outfit with a tertiary color like turquoise just to offset the purple and bring life into the otherwise dark purple, white and black outfit. The gold remained neutral in the matter blending my accessories, bag buckles and shoe zipper together.

In this look I did a lot of the unusual. I mixed colors that wouldn't usually compliment each other, according to the color wheel... purple and turquoise. I mixed prints... my skirt, my bracelet and my earrings. I paired 2 different colors with monotones... black and white.

Fashion is fun! So mix it up a little... or in this case, A LOT! You could also recreate this look with a monotone( maybe black and white) print leggings, with a colored print designed blouse, paired with a black skinny belt and shoes that compliment the color of the blouse.

OOTD: Color within the Lines!

 

Hello Beautiful!

I found a NEW LOVE for dressing up at work!

Wearing my uniform could become a drag, and doesn't really motivate me to get out of bed for an 8 hour shift. But!... Showing up and SHOWING OUT in some colorful trousers, patterned/print tops and platform heels definitely would!

I found myself mixing and matching clothes I've had forever with brand new pieces to create fashionable but work appropriate looks to wear on Tuesdays and Thursday. This day was a Tuesday.

Here's what I wore...

Black Striped Long Sleeve Wrap Blouse 

#vintagepiece! A friend of my mom's gave me this top when I was in my preteens. At the time I hated this blouse, not to mention it was too big for me. I never wore it, but luckily for me I didn't throw it away because 10 years later and its the perfect blouse for this outfit.

Its hard to say which piece of clothing is the statement piece of this outfit. It can be the striped top or the colored bottom. Either way they both compliment each other beautifully! And to add one more element of surprise I played up my face with a bold matte red lip!

This look is about mixing solids with prints or patterns. Which can be a fun play on clothes without getting too fashion forward in the work place. You can also try this same affect with a solid colored cardigan and polka dot skirt, or a pinstripe pants with a solid blazer.

It’s a New Year again! 2013!!! Whoo Hooo!! And honey, I'm all about saving, saving, saving!

But nothing can stop me from some good fashion pieces and a little shopping! So you guessed it… I'll be stealing more than SPLURGING this year!

And I want you to Steal (not literally) and SAVE too!

So once again I've been following Rihanna's fashion and gushing over this Lion Head charmed necklace she's been wearing.

I did a little research and found out it is the Melody Ehsani Queen of the Jungle Necklace.

So in my little research I found out that Melody Ehsani Queen of the Jungle necklace (small) retails for $69.00 and the Melody Ehsani King of the Jungle necklace (large) retails for $72.00.

Not so bad… but still a pretty penny! But I loved that old school hip hop twist to a statement necklace, and had to have it! Well… one just like it!

So I found a replica to the Queen of the Jungle Necklace at one of My favorite online clothing and accessories stores, JaDazzles Clothing and Accessories retailing for $18.00.
